We have been asked by several other sporting
organizations to "network" with them. In other words, get the
word out. So we have created this page to help you find other
opportunities for your student to play sports as a home
schooler. We do not endorse these organizations, please check
them out yourself.
| LIONS
BASKETBALL OPPORTUNITY The Lions Sports Club has openings available for boys interested in playing competitive basketball. Practices have started but we routinely have football players join us after the football season is over. If they love basketball (a Hoosier tradition) we are willing to take the time to catch them up. The Lions basketball club exists to offer home schooled boys an opportunity to play organized and competitive basketball. Our club is serious about basketball but our heart’s desire is to honor our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through these team activities. We have four teams (12 and under, Junior High, Junior Varsity, and Varsity). Our team is based out the NE side of Indianapolis and we play our home games at the Noblesville Boys and Girls Club. We also offer the team involvement to students at private schools that do not have a basketball program. If you or someone you know has interest please have them contact: Jim Schwartz 317-440-0640 jim.a.schwartz@monsanto.com Sean Winchell 317-697-8576 swinchell@firstmortgageindiana.com God bless and Go Lions! Wrestling is a natural activity, one of the first forms of physical play that young children do without ever having been taught. 2. As wrestlers gain experience, technique becomes complex and often correlates to high academic performance. 3. Wrestling does not favor any particular race, gender, culture, size, or stature and is practiced on all continents. 4. Wrestling builds character that contributes to one's ability to become a responsible member of society. 5. Wrestling is a sport of control - not violence. 6. Wrestling is a great way to build confidence and self-defense skills. 7. Wrestling can dramatically improve one's ability to perform in other sports. 8. Wrestling develops agility, balance, reflexes and strength in every major muscle group. 9. Win or lose, wrestlers must shake their opponent's and opposing coach's hands, ensuring that sportsmanship remains a vital part of the sport. 10. Proper weight management develops healthy eating habits that benefit the individual throughout life. 11. Just as in other sports, college scholarships are available for wrestlers who excel both on the mat and in the classroom. |
| Ice Hockey for Homeschoolers: Our practices are held that the Forum in Fishers Ice Rink behind the YMCA on 126th Street. This is a Learn-to-Play program for k-12 students, and experience is not necessary. We teach the unskilled how to skate, stick-handle, and shoot while the more experienced players do more advanced drills. This is a Christ-centered activity where positive encouragement and interaction is expected. Each practice is followed by a brief chapel with all the players. Contact Jeff Fox at foxjeffrey2002@yahoo.com or (317) 385-9864. The Fall session begins on Monday, August 29th. Practices are weekly at 1:00 p.m. Thanks, Jeff Fox Team Chaplain Indiana Ice |
